Missoni Mania

Monday, September 26, 2011

I'm sure by now y'all have got tons of crazy Missoni for Target stories to share. Mine is/was/still uneventful to say the least. After having followed online horror stories of peeps carrying out cartfuls at a time and subsequently marking up piece by piece and re-selling on eBay at thousand percent markups, I knew I'd stay away for my neighborhood Tarjays for as long as I can.

Of course, 2 weeks later (I'm convinced it only took 2 initial hours) every single store within my 10 mile radius is totally wiped out. Dresses, knits, throws, silverware, socks, hell, they even swiped all the zig zag comfort bikes I've been dying to dissect up close and personal to determine if it's even worth the $400 they're asking for.

Apparently it was (3-fold) and now up on eBay for a whopping $1300.00! Can you believe that? Friggin' greedy bastards! What has the world come to when designer collaborations are no longer accessible to casual shoppers just looking to incorporate a little LUXURY into their everyday lives??...

Inspired by Missoni, sporting an old school cardi I snagged from Wet Seal for a measly $7 on sale. That's less than a pair of Missoni for Target socks on eBay man.

{Wet Seal cardigan, Free People tunic, Juicy Couture wide leg jeans, vintage wool hat, Jeffrey Campbell wedges, A/X Armani Exchange leather bag}

Did y'all even attempt to shop the first day??

  7. Its so sad really! I understand the hustle as times are hard.. but but two items... one for yourself and one to sell... grabbing everything is morally defunct! I wanted a few pieces myself, but I didn't even bother because I already knew how this was going to go down.

    Target should def set a max purchase next go round so everyone can enjoy! (In my opinion)

  9. Gorgeous sweater! The whole outfit looks great and what a fabulous price. I've been absent from blogland for a couple of months due to moving home and studio, but I'm BACK with the Season Premiere of the new Fall Season of the blog. Fun to be back!

  14. i did shop online as soon as the items came online (benefit to being 5 hrs behind, i can shop the night before while evvryone is still sleeping...had tons of stuff in the cart, then the site crashed, haha. so when i tried again in the morning, everything i wanted was sold out. ended up getting two things, which keep getting backordered...haven't received anything yet!

  20. I thought that cardigan WAS MISSONI!! The hat and turquoise bag are the perfect accessories!

    On the release date, I strolled into Tarjay in the late morning thinking I would find some things. That Target was out of everything so I ended up driving to two other Tarjays like a maniac. I did end up with some dresses so I'm happy!

  21. Would the quality be as good though? I'm not a huge designer fan; but I would be willing to pay the bucks for a classic piece that would last a few seasons - but not if someone else is flogging it off at 3 times the price when I could have bought it myself. Having said that your Wet Seal cardy does the trick just nicely - it LOOKS expensive!
