I’m sure by now y’all have had a chance to peruse Zara’s home store that recently launched in the U.S. I can’t quite tell what the quality is like judging from the images, but a previous 2010 trip to visit their Barcelona shops proved to be so compelling I almost purchased over $1000 worth of merchandise to carry on home. I eventually convinced myself that Zara would be shipping to the states in no time so I left the goods behind and have been mourning the loss ever since then.
Fast forward some 24 months later and my wish has (finally!) been granted y’all! Much like their eponymous ready-to-wear, all of these items feature high design at a low, low cost. With price points starting at $9 for tableware and up to $400 for complete comforter sets, there’s sure to be a surplus of fabulous items to fit your budget and style. Shop some of my faves below and see how I’d use these chic sets to style everything from my bed, bath, and beyond!
Sexy and cozy featuring the "IT" color for Fall/Winter: Oxblood burgundy!
Love how sumptuous plush velvet feels for decorative pillows.
All the better to get a good night's rest. Equal parts glam and gilded, my FAVE combination for the bedroom.
Very Missoni-inspired with a touch of baroque. The graphic tray is the perfect backdrop to house toiletries and cosmetic items. I love how the barely-there damask print is picked up from the bath mat flooring, to the towel set hanging on the walls, and finally to the vanity set on the countertop. When in doubt, insert a fun dose of pattern and repeat throughout for a dialogue of visual continuity. Decorating 101 y'all!
Once you get to the point where you're decorating with prints, the next step is to add more pattern with contrasting prints for a lush and layered effect. I've chosen to inject some fun panache to traditional Gramma florals with a touch of animal print, allowing the patterns to play against each other in contrast and color. The metallic table runner pulls the pieces together acting as the groundwork to lay mixed metal finishing touches like the stemware and napkin rings. Now the winter florals look divine in the mix instead of downright dowdy individually.
