Scenes from a Little Rascal-themed Baby Shower

Monday, June 03, 2013

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend!!!
Not to sing my sad sob story but I spent mine packing, unpacking, carting, and basically living in complete chaos. So last week (literally hours before throwing my gf’s baby shower) my house flooded. Yup, you read that right: 3 hours-worth of nasty sewer water all up in my family home before anyone woke to catch wind of it. Can you imagine waking up to 4 inches of soaking wet tile, furniture, shoes, carpet, clothes, cabinets and list goes on and on???

To make a long story short, we have been vacated from our property but not before I could decorate and host my darling Elaine’s baby shower for her teensy tiny bun in the oven. The theme: Little Rascals! Awwww I loves me a good candy-colored fête to shower the little rascal’s that sitting snug in mama’s belly.

Moral of the story?
Sometimes all it takes is a little (or large) catastrophe to put things into perspective. What I realized is that those finite moments spent with friends, family, and loved ones is irreplaceable. I could die tomorrow and what would I have to show for it?? Not the things we lost in the flood...Nor the millions of objets d’art that we’ve been collecting for decades on end. It’s the memories that count. And the many more we are to make when we don’t let ANYTHING hold us back from moving forward.
