Scenes from My Sister's Wedding WeekendThursday, July 31, 2014
I come from a long line of strong, fearless females. A matriarchal family run by the HBIC, my 80-year old "A Ma" Grandma who singularly raised a gang of 15+ children/stepchildren on her own after having been divorced, then widowed all before the ripe age of 42 in war-torn Vietnam.
Having escaped the communist country during the late 70’s, my family fled first to Louisiana (where I was born), then migrated to Houston (where I was raised) and now to Southern California (where I call home). Fast-forward some 30 years later and here we all are, reunited for my sister’s small and intimate wedding this past weekend with my favorite, my BEST and my blood line through and through.
It’s always such a treat to see the OG gang all gussied up for a fun time at a family wedding: My crazy aunts whom I consider the catalyst for my super-fancy upbringing…a clique of close cuzzies whom are the ONLY other peeps that understand how seriously NUTZ our family is…and the gaggle of grandkids, next in line to carry on the legacy of the Ly family name. Ride-or-die, through thick and thin, I loveloveLOVE this darling bunch!
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.!!! It’s been a long time coming but you deserve the best in the world for your brave soul and open heart. I love you Phuong!!! Cheers to your happily ever after!!! <3 <3 <3
