If you’d have told me that the best cheap eats in Bangkok were all located in a shopping mall, I’d probably have laughed in your face while recounting the last time I devoured a Hot Dog on a Stick and called it epicurean.

Decadent?…Yes…Gourmet?  Don’t think so, buddy. Seriously, good grub from a shopping mall??? Say it ain’t so!

But au contraire my darlings, the best, cheap, CLEAN eats ARE all conveniently located in the hundreds of shopping malls littered throughout Bangkok, taking up entire floors dedicated to casual, quick style cuisine.

Shopping Mall Dining 101

  1. Purchase a monetized meal ticket, say $10USD for a punch card.
  2. Scout the best vendors in their food court, namely those with the longest lines of course.
  3. Place your order, they punch your card and fire up your plate of goodies.
  4. In the same amount of time you order from a drive-thru, your order is ready.

You can LITERALLY eat 10 full blown meals, noodles, rice dishes, fried chicken, roasted duck, desserts, you name it, they HAVE it, all for approximately $1USD PER PLATE!  It’s crazy cheap and CRAZY good. We roll deep yo and our posse couldn’t even put a dent in our meal tickets it was just NEVERENDING!!!

We even stumbled upon a traveling Thai market showcase that took over the entire ground level of the MBK mall.  Fresh seasonings and spices, made-to-order noodle soups, and even live entertainment as you make your way through the rows of vendors.

And this was the case at almost EVERY shopping mall!  I swear they make it so convenient, you don’t even want to venture out on the streets for good eats!  Which of course we did AFTER the shopping mall sesh because we’re piggies, lol, but you get the idea.

We easily ate over 10 times what you see in this post on only 2 shopping mall excursions, but my little fingers couldn’t click fast enough jumping from table to table to catch the feast!

I really do love that Bangkok is completely catered to tourists and locals alike with this system.  Such a smart and convenient way to get a taste of Thailand, WORLDS AWAY from what we have here in the States, that much I can assure you!

Bon Appétit mes amis!

  1. Bangkok is the best! I visited last with my mom at the start of the year but I'd love to go with friends and eat more and visit the markets too! Bangkok literally is the bomb for local and international cuisine, that's so great that you guys managed to hit up so many places and yes! Their malls, whether the more high end or regular ones are just packed with great stuff!
