Gosh what can I write about Sushi Murasaki, one of the most highly overrated sushi joints in OC that y’all don’t already know?
Well, for starters, they’re friggin’ expen$ive!

Le bf and I are pretty major sushi Nazis so you know we’d gladly shell out over $200pp for any meal that promises the freshest catch of the day, coupled with ice cold sake, and an omakase menu that reads like a who’s who of foreign fish from the Atlantic to Pacific and back. What I absolutely abhor is the lingering stench of musty foul seafood that costs more than a small handbag but less than my Loubs. Albeit both beautiful in presentation, which would you rather have???
Don’t let its appearance fool you my friends- something definitely smells fishy up in here! And it’s NOT the dessert!

Know Before You Go
I’ve been to Sushi Murasaki a number of times, probably a handful before relegating to write this post. Every time has been a different experience, some ok, others simply terrible. I’ve been patiently waiting for them to up their game and prove me wrong but after almost 1K and loads of wasted calories later, they are still on my shitlist! Your BEST bet if trying for the very first time is omakase, allowing the Chef to dictate your meal for the day. But be forewarned, they limit their omakase menu to the most popular fish so if you’re looking for something a little more exotic, I’d suggest hopping down the street to Ikko Sushi for a $200 meal you won’t regret!*

The food looks really good, but I hate when you go to a restaurant and the experience varies so much each time you go. Such a letdown!
