I am finally sharing some behind-the-scenes footage from my latest design/build project #JKID_NewportBackBay!

Located in Newport Beach just minutes from the coast, my latest custom residential project has been a DREAM to conceptualize and design. Clients typically bring me in as soon as they procure the land, sometimes even before they’ve brought an architect on board. It’s a good rule of thumb to get your interior designer in the mix early on. Doing so will ensure that your home is custom built from the outside in. I can’t tell you how many times drawings have been re-submitted time and time again when clients come to me after their architect draws up the initial plans.

What is the Difference between an architect and interior designer?

You MUST understand that architects design your home in relation to the residential style, the exterior appearance, the relationship between the elements, the neighborhood, and the structure itself.

Do they concern themselves with your specific needs within the home? No.

Do they understand that you want windows flanked beside your bed and not directly over it? Probably not.

Do they locate your kitchen in an area that you receive morning light while washing your dishes? Umm, I don’t think so buddy.

If these are issues you do not bring up in the initial meetings with your architect, chances are your home will not directly reflect your personal needs once your architect is done and out of there.  Most homeowners are so consumed with materials and the final look that they don’t appropriately plan for this pre-design phase. But this planning stage is ESSENTIAL to the success of the final outcome so knowing what to ask and who to hire is just as important as saving up so you can afford this custom build.

This is where I come in and why you desperately need my expertise!

As the interior designer, it is my job to foresee how you use wish to use space and how to design rooms around the way you aspire to live.

Interior design, at its best, is the science of customizing space so that it suits your individual needs while elevating everyday living.

I like to refer to myself as the home whisperer because in addition to doing all of the above, I also design homes in a way that speaks to you without you ever having to utter a single word.

Interior Design = Luxury personified.
