Spring is almost upon us loves! I can taste it!

The sun is shining brighter, the days longer, the air fuller and filled with so much promise.  Although SoCal doesn’t necessarily succumb to the whims of seasonal changes, I make it a point to switch out my wardrobe and always add key pieces that will survive all season long.
Let’s see what made the cut!

Key Essentials

1. Statement Top

You’ve seen it all over the runways and on your favorite style bloggers- voluminous tops are HOT this season! I love them in punchy prints like gingham, checks, and plaids but of course a little striped action always finds its way into the wardrobe as well.  To offset the sheer size of these blousons, keep the rest of your look streamlined and minimal. The shirt is the star here guys!
I’ve been loving everything power puffed lately, as evidenced from this ruffly, dramatic, romantic top HERE (another surefire statement top to add!)

2. Distressed Denim

Distressed denim ain’t going anywhere! Especially in SoCal when they’re as ubiquitous as the mirrored sunnies (see below) and bayalage brondes you spy all over town. I like my denim distressed and raw hemmed or cropped, that way you can show off those badass kicks you scored from the pre-season sales.  The beauty of this uniform is that you can go from casual day to fancy night looks with the simple switch of your accessories! Gotta love LA if just for the casual denim= cocktail cool Cali vibes.

 SHOP THE LOOK

Top: c/o Shein
Hat: Rag and Bone (sold out similar HERE)
Sunnies: Karen Walker
Bag: Charles David (old, similar HERE and HERE)
Shoes: Charles Jourdan (old, similar HERE and HERE)

3.  Mirrored Sunnies

I’ve been living in these Karen Walker sunnies lately but any mirrored shades will do.  All the better to reflect the never ending sunshine and beautiful palm trees! Plus hides all those dark circles from partying the night before, lol. Win-Win!

4.  Straw Hat

I’ve been collecting hats since I’ve been collecting complements rocking them, which is forever now! Lol I believe every great ensemble starts and ends with the accessories.  Wool hats during winter, straw hats in spring, so apropos and you’ll always look chic and pulled together.  You guys know I’m a MAJOR fan of Janessa Leone and this Rag and Bone boater hat is quickly rising above the ranks. But it’s SOLD OUT everywhere so check out JL’s Calla hat HERE for a comparable version of this spring staple.
How do you guys usher in a new sartorial season?
Do you rotate your wardrobe like I do?
Would love to know the pieces that top your essentials this spring!

  1. I love the look of an oversized top with some destroyed denim. It's so chic! You styled this look so well.
